human capital disclosure: ISO 30414 and CSRD
a metric-by-metric readiness guide to ISO 30414:2025 and the workforce disclosures inside the revised EU standards
Human capital reporting has moved from voluntary guidance towards something closer to an audit trail. ISO published the second edition of ISO 30414 on 24 August 2025. It keeps the eleven human capital areas and adds a baseline set of 14 required metrics that apply to every organisation, whatever its size, sector or geography. It shifts from recommendations alone to auditable requirements, and adds coverage of human rights, labour relations, productivity, ethics, wellbeing and data governance.
The EU narrowed and rewrote its regime in parallel. Directive (EU) 2026/470 raised the CSRD threshold to more than 1,000 employees and more than 450 million euro in net turnover, and ended the phased waves. The European Commission adopted revised reporting standards on 3 July 2026, cutting mandatory datapoints by more than 60% and applying from financial years starting 1 January 2027. ESRS S1, the own workforce standard, still carries the disclosures that HR owns.
Written for CHROs, people analytics leads and reporting owners who have to produce workforce numbers that survive assurance. Includes a metric-by-metric readiness checklist, an ISO 30414 to ESRS S1 mapping, a data lineage template, and a two-year plan to the FY2027 reporting year.

what you’ll be able to do
- score every ISO 30414 and ESRS S1 metric on data source, owner and assurance readiness
- map ISO 30414 metrics to ESRS S1 disclosures so one data set serves both frameworks
